Ulrich Maiss is a freelance musician, composer, and sound designer. After finishing his music studies at the Conservatory of Art in Berlin in 1993, he started an international career in both contemporary and classical music, which led him from Western Europe to the US, Canada and Japan. He premiered numerous pieces by composers such as Mario Bertoncini, Withold Szalonek, Ulrich Krieger, Phil Niblock, Conrado del Rosario, Il-Ryun Chung and Helmut Zapf, to name but a few. His compositions and sound design installations premiered in New York, Toronto, Berlin, Munich and at the Biennale in Venice.

Joseph Butch Rovan is a composer and performer on the faculty of the College of Music at the University of North Texas (UNT), where he directs CEMI, the Center for Experimental Music and Intermedia. Prior to joining UNT he was "compositeur en recherche" at the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM) in Paris. Rovan's research into gestural control and interactivity has been featured in publications such as IRCAM's journal "Resonance," and the Computer Music Journal. His research has been presented at the international conference "KANSEI: The Technology of Emotion", the 1998 ICMC, the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, the 1998 SEAMUS conference, and at the Bauhaus summer workshop in Dessau, Germany. His interactive scores for dance have been programmed in Munich, Paris, Reims, Monaco, the 2001 SEAMUS conference in Baton Rouge and the 2001 ICMC in Havana.
